How to pray during difficult times?

It can be hard to stay consistent in prayer during difficult times, surprisingly that should be the time when we pray most. We can easily get distracted by our stressful thoughts and negative circumstances that oftentimes we’ll get discouraged from praying. However, Luke 18:1-8 encourages us to do the opposite, which is to continue praying without giving up.

In the passage, Jesus tells a parable about a woman who wanted justice from a judge who refused to help her. But, because she kept coming back “bothering” him about the same issue, he finally gave the woman what she wanted. Jesus’ parable reminds us that persistence pays off.

The moral of the parable is, God will not keep putting his people off, who pray to him. Just as the judge eventually gave into the woman’s pleas because of her persistence, God will also do the same when we continuously pray to Him. So, whatever you do during your hard time, don’t stop praying to God.

Here’s a prayer to pray during difficult times:

God,

“I love you, and I thank you for who you are and who you are not. Be my saving grace and deliver me out of my troubles. Make a way of escape for me. Lord, I’m in a problem that I can’t get myself out of.

Only you can save me, so I ask that you intervene on my behalf and straighten this problem out in my favor. Provide a solution to the hard times that I’m experiencing and turn this situation around for the better.

Act swiftly on my behalf. Bless me with all that I need to make it out of my problem safely and be with me in all that I do.

I ask that my prayers do not return to me void, but that they accomplish all that which I please and prosper whereto I send them. And I send them to you Heavenly Father. ”

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What does the Bible say about praying in difficult times?

In James 5, the Bible gives us an example about how powerful prayer is during the difficult time of being sick. It tells us that if elders pray with faith for the sick, then the sick will be healed, because the prayers of the righteous man avails much. Here’s the exact scripture:

“Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.

Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. The Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:13-16)
