I know this all too well, as a person I once loved, recently lost his life from drinking and driving. Alcohol had a stronghold over him, and it showed greatly. As I looked back at old pictures of him, in nearly every picture he was holding: a bottle of alcohol.
That my friend is considered a stronghold. Unfortunately, his stronghold cost him his life and that’s something he can never get back.

Deliverance Prayers from Alcohol:
Lord,
“I ask that you please forgive me for drinking alcohol and getting drunk. Lord, I know that displeases you, but I’m not strong enough to overcome it alone. I want to quit drinking alcohol; my spirit is strong, but my flesh is weak.
I don’t know how to do it on my own, and God I’ve tried everything. I’ve exhausted my resources and everything that I know to do. Father God, I’ve prayed so many times about this matter that I’ve lost count. I ask that you step in and take over.
Fight this battle for me because I’m too weak to fight it. I’ve been getting beat up and tossed around by the enemy because I’m not strong nor skilled enough to fight this battle.
But you Lord are! You are stronger than any and all my enemies combined. I trust you Lord and ask that you deliver me once and for all from alcohol.
Lord, if you don’t intervene and fight this battle for me, then there’s no way I can or will complete the very reason I was created for. God, I’m going to leave this life with an unfulfilled purpose, if you don’t deliver me from this vicious stronghold. And I know you don’t want that for me, nor do I.

Take the desire to drink alcohol of any kind from my mind, thoughts, and taste buds. I ask that you make the thought of alcohol and its taste disgusting and off-putting to me. I ask that from this day forward that I no longer have a need, want, or desire for alcohol ever again.
Lord, give me victory over this demonic stronghold that only you can win on my behalf. Set me free, break my yoke, and deliver me from alcoholism right now in the name of Jesus and through the blood of Jesus.
I know the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus is more than enough to give me total and complete victory over alcoholism. I thank you Lord for delivering me from alcohol and looking down on me with love, mercy, kindness, and compassion.
Father God, I ask that you hear my prayers and that they don’t return to me void, but that they accomplish all that which I please and prosper whereto I send them. And I send them to you God, and you alone.”

“Thank you for loving me first and always being the source of my strength. Lord, I believe that I can and will be delivered from any thing that I struggle with as long as I have you.
And right now, I know I have an unhealthy soul tie that was created from sin. God, please forgive me for allowing lust and lies to control me. I repent and renounce my sin. Cleanse, sanctify, and purify me, Lord.

Lord,
“This drug has an extremely strong hold over me. It’s become so strong that it’s interrupting my life and livelihood. Please don’t let it have dominance over me any longer.
Help me and assist me in overcoming this stronghold, Lord. I need you now more than ever because I cannot defeat this stronghold without your help.
Release your angels over me and fight on my behalf, Lord Jesus. Deliver me from evil, wickedness, drugs, and temptation. Take away the desire to engage and participate in doing this drug.
Let me not be swept away into sin and forgive me for my sins.
I ask that I forgive others for their wrongs toward me, so that you will forgive me for my wrongs toward you, Heavenly Father. Show me the way and guide me out of temptation.
Take the desire to do drugs from my desires. Curb all my cravings for drugs and take away the urge to do them. All things that are impossible with men are possible with God.
Lord, make is possible for me to stop doing drugs and I pray that the want and need for them end and cease right now in the name of Jesus.
I plead the blood of Jesus over me from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. Lord, I ask that you answer my prayers and that I see the physical manifestation of what I ask come to pass in the earthly realm, very quickly.”

Lord,
“I’m struggling with addiction that’s impossible for me to defeat without you. I find myself constantly wanting it without the discipline to say no or reject it. Deliver me from this addiction that I’m having trouble with and give me victory to defeat it.
I rebuke and bind the root and cause of this addiction in the name of Jesus. I bind the addictive spirit that’s within me and cast it down in the name of Jesus.
Lord, your word says, “whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Lord, I ask that you loose my breakthrough and deliverance from this addiction.
Bless me to beat this addiction. Destroy it from the root, seed, and its core in the name of Jesus. Lord, you came so that I can have life more abundantly; I ask that you make it abundant for me by destroying this addiction.
Break the chains of my yoke and set me free from this addiction right now in the mighty name of Jesus and by the blood of Jesus. I declare that by His stripes I am healed, and I will no longer struggle with this addiction starting today.”

Lord,
“I’ve been living my life all wrong. It’s been filled with bad decisions, bad habits, and sin. Forgive me Father God, I ask. Help me to get better.
Replace the sin and bad habits with healthy righteous ways and habits. Place in me a desire to do good and live clean and make it easy for me to do so.
Steer me in the right direction and let my bad habits become a turn off to me. Let me stop partaking in them. Deliver me from the sin I’ve allowed in my life.
Remove my bad ways and habits from my mind, heart, body, spirit, soul, and thoughts.
Correct and renew my mind and my ways. Place me around good people who I can learn and grow from. Surround me around your people, who will have a positive influence on me.
Lead me, guide me, and show me the way. Order my steps and my ways. Show me the power of deliverance so I can boast on your name. Deliver me Lord and let me never return to the bad habits, ways, and sin that you delivered me from.
Lord, I love you and ask that my prayers don’t go unanswered.”

Can you pray for your own deliverance?
Yes, you absolutely can! I struggled with alcoholism for almost two decades, and no matter how many times I prayed for deliverance, it seemed as if my prayers fell on deaf ears.
I prayed, fasted, repented, praised, and worshipped God and nothing changed for years…
It wasn’t until I prayed and told God that I couldn’t overcome alcoholism without Him fighting the battle for me because I was too weak to fight it.
And that I would never accomplish my purpose in life if He didn’t intervene because unfortunately alcohol was my idol.
I also told God if you don’t step in and make the changes that I can’t make on my own, then I’m going to die a drunk, and my life will have been useless and lived in vain.
I said so much in that prayer and ever since I spoke that prayer in April 2025, I have NEVER had a desire to drink alcohol, nor have I ever drank alcohol again.
The thing that I struggled with for almost 20 years was finally over when I surrendered the fight to God and stopped fighting it myself.
And I’m so grateful that God heard me, intervened, and answered my prayer for deliverance.
God is so GOOD!
