Getting Through Hard Times with Faith and Prayer
How to deal with struggles in life?
There will always be struggles in life and the best way to deal with them is to take it to God in prayer and don’t lose your faith. Taking it to God in prayer allows you to present your problems to God and gives you the opportunity to ask Him for help. And remaining strong in faith is what’s going to please God, because without it it’s impossible to please Him. So, stay in His word to build your faith and pray continuously until you see changes. Don’t give up, no matter how long it takes to see a change.
How to stay mentally strong during tough times?
Keep yourself filled with prayer and the word of God. You need to talk to God when you’re going through a hard time to express your worries, fears, and concerns to Him. When you do that, you’ll be in alignment with what His word says, when it says, “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved,” in Psalm 55:22.
Reading the word of God is what’s going to build your faith up and keep you positive. Because it is full of powerful scriptures and passages about others who went through hard times, and God intervened and save them. It’s something about hearing His word that’s going to increase your confidence and faith in Him.

What are 8 things to remember when going through tough times?
1. Your struggle is only temporary
Life is full of seasons. Some seasons are long and some are short, but no season is meant to last forever. When I faced the hardest time in my life the best advice I received was: “Your problem is only temporary.” Those words really helped me endure and changed my perspective about my situation for the better.
2. God is in control
God has the final say in what happens in your situation no matter how bad things get. If you read the Bible God makes that very clear. For example, when Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, most people would’ve thought he’d never make it out alive. But God had other plans and shut the mouths of the lions, so that Daniel made it out alive the next day.
3. Don’t dwell on the negative
This is another great piece of advice I’ve received when going through hard times. And it helped tremendously. Because had I stayed thinking about all the bad things and replaying them over and over in my mind, then I would’ve been stuck. And that’s not how God wants us to live. Instead, focus on believing that God will change your situation around for the better. Though you may not know when or how He’s going to do it, just keep believing that He’s going to do it. God is faithful.
4. Pray without ceasing
Pray continuously until you see a breakthrough in your situation. Prayer is what’s going to make the changes that you desire to see. There’s so much power in prayer, even so that Apostle Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing” in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

5. Walk by faith, not by sight
Keep your faith strong in God and don’t let it waver. Faith acts as the foundation of getting answered prayers. We need faith to pray about our circumstances. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. In other words, it’s our confidence in God. So, keep your confidence in Him firmly planted despite what you see in the physical realm, because God can and will change your circumstance for the better.
6. Trust that God is behind the scenes working it out for you.
God works for the greater good of those he loves. Just because you don’t see any changes yet, doesn’t mean that God isn’t setting things up for you. Sometimes you have to go through a thing so that when you reflect back on it, you can see it more clearly and see how He brought you through it. That increases your confidence in Him, so you’ll be prepared the next time you have to face major problems.
7. God can change your situation around
God can turn a negative situation into a positive one. Joseph was a great example of this. He went from the dungeon to the palace at the blink of an eye because God changed his situation around. God is in control of everything and He can make the impossible possible for those who believe in Him.
8. Your situation could be much worse
Train your mind to know and believe that there are people out there whose circumstances are much worst than yours. Walk around with gratitude knowing that your problems could be much worst and be thankful that they aren’t.

What to do if you are struggling?
- Take it to God in prayer consistently
- Read the Bible
- Try to keep a positive outlook even when it’s hard to do so
- Don’t dwell on your problem
Here’s a short prayer you can say:
Lord,
“I’m struggling to keep my faith strong during this hard time in my life. I ask that you increase my faith and give me strength to remain steady during this time. Send me help and aid and make a way of escape for me Lord.
Strengthen me mentally, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually, so that I when the storm is over, I can give you all the glory and credit for bringing me out safely. Lord, I ask that you turn my situation around for the better and bless me with a miracle.”
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
