The Faith in Waiting Season

Are you looking for a few useful tips that’ll help you during your faith in waiting season? Waiting can be very difficult, but let’s face it: even the ancients had to wait to receive the promises of God and His blessings. Let’s explore more about faith in waiting.

faith in waiting

One thing you’re required to have when you’re in a waiting season is: faith.

I’m currently going through a long 9+ year season of waiting for a specific blessing, so my faith has been strengthened and tested, for sure.

Faith can make or break the very thing you’ve been waiting for.

Because the blessing/promise can and will only come through having faith. The Bible gives us three scriptures that support this:

Romans 4:13,

“It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.”

And…

Romans 4:16,

“Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.”

And…

Hebrews 10:35-36,

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

So please, never give up and abandon your faith!

Best Faith in Waiting Tips

Table of Contents:

Signs you are in a season of waiting

  1. You don’t see the physical manifestation

of what you’re waiting for. If you’ve been waiting for some time and still haven’t seen the blessing or promise come to pass, then it’s safe to say that you’re in a waiting season. Now is a good time to work on areas of yourself and life that needs growth and improvement, which brings me to my next point…

  1. You still need to grow/develop in other areas of your life, character, etc.

This sign can apply to many things. Maybe you need to focus on getting closer to God, or maybe your faith could use some strengthening. Whatever the area in yourself/life that needs development is, then focus on that. When your blessing comes, you’ll be prepared to receive it and a good steward of it as well.

  1. Your faith is being tried, refined, and strengthened

God wants us to trust him, especially during the waiting season. It may seem like things get worst before they get good. Study Joseph and Job, they were prime examples. Their life reflected many hardships before the promise and blessing actually came to pass. And, when their waiting season was over, their blessings came suddenly and unexpectedly.

  1. Patience is being built

Patience is definitely a virtue and one of the characteristics of the fruit of the Spirit. 2 Peter 3:8 reminds us that God is very patient! It says, “…With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you…” Waiting and trusting God will always require patience, because His timing is not the same our timing.

  1. You feel like it’s taking too long or forever!

Proverbs 13:12 says “hope deferred makes the heart grow weary.” Which means a person can grow tired after waiting for something for so long. Waiting on God is not easy, especially when there’s no sign that your promise or blessing is near. Sometimes the wait will be a short wait, but sometimes it can be loooonnnggg! It can be discouraging as you wonder if God truly hears you. However, don’t stay discouraged for too long. Continuously build yourself up through prayer, praise, and studying the Bible.

Waiting Season Tips

  1. Don’t lose your faith

this is probably one of the most important tips on the list. In all that we do, we should always walk in faith whether we can physically see the blessing/promise or not. That type of faith greatly pleases God. The book of Hebrews is full of faith-based scripture that’ll help you persevere until your waiting season is over.

  1. Continuously read stories in the Bible

that specifically address people who had to wait on God. Such as: Hannah, Abraham, Joseph, Job, David, etc. These stories help you remember that you are not alone! Even God’s chosen and appointed had to wait for their blessings for many years. However, when the waiting season was over, God quickly delivered on His promise and answered their prayers. So, stay in God’s word as you wait.

  1. Don’t isolate yourself

Surround yourself with fellow believers who are also waiting on God. Isolation will make you feel and believe that you are alone and no one else can relate, which isn’t true at all. It’ll also put you in a negative emotional space. You’ll begin to experience feelings of depression, anger, or anxiety about your wait. Proverbs 13:12 says “hope deferred makes the heart grow weary.” Which means you grow weary after waiting for something for so long. That’s totally normal, but don’t allow yourself to STAY in that negative space.

  1. Do what you can to work towards the “thing”

For example, you may be believing God for a new home. So, what can you do on your part to ensure that you’ll be ready when He does bless you? You can start saving money for a down payment or look into home buyer assistance programs that’ll help you cover the down payment and closing cost. God’s word tells us in James 2:26 that “faith without works is dead.” It’s best to start putting actions that align with your faith into existence.

  1. Pray and believe continuously

Prayer is the thing that’s going to pull you through your waiting season. Prayer is your way of communicating with God, your needs, wants, desires, etc. So, keep an active prayer life so you can always stay in touch with God. Pray for an increase in faith and patience because those are the two things that you’ll need most during your season of waiting. Always seek God in prayer and remember: don’t give up!

The power of waiting upon the Lord

In Acts Chapter 1, Jesus reappeared to his disciples after his resurrection. He instructed them to wait in Jerusalem for a few days until they all received the Holy Spirit.

So, they followed his command and waited. When the Holy Spirit finally did come it came suddenly, all the disciples had the ability to speak in tongues (another language).

That moment was so powerful that 3,000 people were baptized and converted into believers of Jesus Christ. The disciples waited on the Lord, just as He told them to and because of the wait, 3,000 people were saved. How awesome!

In the next section of this article, I’ll give you a few helpful scriptures about waiting and trusting God.
