The Bible has many different heroes of faith. Because many saints had to endure and believe God in some of the most bizarre, scary, and extreme circumstances.

Take Hannah for example, she prayed and believed God to bless her with a child.

It took many years to see the physical manifestation of her prayer come to pass, but eventually it did.

Aside from prayer, guess what else it took to receive the blessing that she desired? Faith. It took solid unwavering faith to finally become a mother and give birth to her first child, Samuel.

In this post you are going to learn 10 heroes of faith in the Bible and three lessons from the heroes of faith.

After reading this post, you’ll know who the heroes of faith in the Bible are and much more.

This post is all about heroes of faith in the Bible.

Heroes of Faith in the Bible

Top 10 heroes of faith in the Bible

1. Abraham

Abraham opened the door for all believers to operate in faith. Hence, he is known as the “father of faith.” Abraham sacrificed a lot for his faith. He gave up his country, family, and much more to follow God on a lifelong journey. His most notable action of faith is when he offered his only son, Isaac to God, and believed that God would raise him from the dead.

2. Moses

Moses was known for leading the children of Israel out of Egypt, after they had been enslaved for over 400 years. He had to face Pharaoh, one of the most powerful men alive at the time so that he could free God’s people. And it was not easy. But, with God’s help and guidance Moses carried out one the Old Testaments greatest miracles, the parting of the Red Sea.

3. Joseph

Joseph believed in the dream God gave him as a young man. Despite the many wrongs that was done to him, he still maintained good character and trusted God. By keeping his faith intact through it all, God blessed him to become the second in command of the most powerful nation in the world, Egypt. Not only that, but God restored his family after their horrific betrayal.

4. David

David was a man after God’s own heart, but David also had a lot of faith. His faith became evident when he voluntarily fought and killed Goliath the giant. Many thought he was crazy for going against a man that was more than double his size, but David’s faith shined and he won the battle, then later became the King of Israel.

5. Jacob

Jacob was full of courage. He’s the only man who wrestled with the angel of God and successfully prevailed. He definitely had faith, to do something as extraordinary as that.

6. Daniel

One of Daniel’s most known trials was when the king placed him in the lion’s den for his faith. Daniel chose to break the king’s law and continue praying to God and as a result was thrown into a den full of lions. But God was with Daniel through it all, because Daniel was never hurt, harmed, or injured by the lions and came out unscathed with his life the next morning.

7. Job

Job’s life story was sad considering all that he had to go through. During a time of spiritual testing, he literally lost everything except for his life. The loss of his children, health, finances, and belongings didn’t deter him from keeping his faith in God. Eventually, through God’s goodness Job was thankfully restored double of everything he’d lost.

8. Elijah

Successfully faced off with the false prophets of his time and he prayed to God to withhold the rain for over three and a half years. God honored Elijah’s prayers and withheld the rain until he prayed for it to rain again. To pray something of that magnitude it definitely requires faith.

9. Jesus

Faith wouldn’t even be a “thing” if Jesus weren’t involved. Jesus completed his earthly ministry in three years before he was wrongly crucified. His ministry included healing, teaching, and many miracles. And to accomplish all that he was able to accomplish, it took relentless faith.

10. Rebekah

Out of all the women in the Bible Rebekah’s faith proved to be outstanding. No one in their right mind would leave everything they’ve ever known to marry a man they’ve never even spoken to nor met. But Rebekah had that type of radical faith. She left her family, country, and friends to marry Abraham’s son, Isaac.

3 Lessons from the heroes of faith

  1. Wait patiently for God

As seen by Abraham and Hannah, when we wait patiently for God, He’ll exceed our expectations. Sometimes, waiting patiently for God is about timing. God knows just the right time to bless us. I know we can want our blessings quickly, but perhaps, it’s just not the right time for you to receive your blessing or answered prayer yet because it’s not in alignment with God’s perfect timing.

  1. Always persevere and endure

Job and Joseph had to endure excruciating trials and tribulations for many years before they witnessed restoration and the blessings of God. Although, it took a long time for God’s goodness to manifest, they still never stopped believing, persevering, and enduring. At times we have to go through a refining phase, so that when we have been tested in the furnace of affliction, we’ll come out stronger and purer.

  1. God can do anything

God is capable of doing any and everything. He is the Maker of all things and there’s nothing too hard for Him. He can change a situation around suddenly, unexpectantly, and miraculously just as He did for the children of Israel when He parted the Red Sea to get them out of Egypt.
