The saying ” no faith no power ” is so true, because if you don’t have faith then you really won’t have power. As believers, God wants us to have unlimited faith, so He can release His unlimited power in our lives. Let’s explore more about no faith no power.

Life has its way of challenging our faith, but it shouldn’t result in us completely losing our faith and being left with dead faith. Dead faith is an absolute hinderance to breakthroughs, blessings, miracles, and prayers.
And God doesn’t want that for us. When no faith is present detrimental consequences can and will follow. This will be proven in the two Biblical examples in this article.
In this post, you are going to learn about examples of dead faith in the Bible compared to examples of faith with works in the Bible, what it means to not have faith, and more.
After reading this post, you’ll want to always walk in faith because you’ll know there’s no power in dead faith, like it is when you walk in faith.
This post is all about no faith no power.
No Faith No Power
What does it mean to not have faith?
To not have faith means to not trust God, and that’s the exact opposite of what He wants for His children. He wants us to place our trust in Him when we go to Him in prayer, that’s why having faith is so important. To not have faith is detrimental to believers that is because faith is the very root of access to God. Without faith no miracles would happen, prayers would remain unanswered, and it would weaken our relationship with God. Without faith God’s people would feel discouraged because of unanswered prayers and limited access to Him.
Examples of dead faith in the Bible
Here are two Biblical examples of dead faith.
Peter’s Doubt
Matthew 14 covers Jesus walking on water in the midst of a storm. When Peter saw Jesus walking on water he became afraid and thought he was seeing a ghost. But, Jesus assured Peter that it was him and encouraged him to walk on water with him. As Peter got out the boat he miraculously began walking on water with Jesus, then suddenly he unexpectedly sank into the water and Jesus had to rescue him.
Why did he suddenly sink? Because Peter began to doubt and lost faith as he walked on water. The moment Peter began to disbelieve best describes the meaning of no faith no power. Peter lost all power to walk on water because he didn’t believe that he could. Keep in mind this was shortly after Peter witnessed Jesus feed more than 5,000 people with just two loaves of bread and five fish. Yet, doubt still got the best of Peter.
Peter’s lack of faith when he saw Jesus walking on water will always baffle me, especially considering all the miraculous healings and miracles he witnessed Jesus perform earlier that day.

The Spies Bad Report
In Numbers 13, Moses was instructed by God to scope out Canaan, the land He promised to give to the Israelites. So, Moses sent 12 Israelite spies to check out the land before they conquered it. He instructed them to see what the land and people were like. When the 12 spies came back, 10 of them gave a very discouraging assessment while two, Joshua and Caleb, did not. The 10 spies gave a positive assessment of the land saying it was good land.
But…
Their assessment of the people occupying the land was bad and disheartening. They reported that the people were stronger than the Israelites and they could not successfully attack the people because the occupants were tall/giant people. Their lack of faith became so infectious that when the Israelites heard their report, they immediately complained and regretted leaving Egypt. However, the two spies Joshua and Caleb, weren’t discouraged like the other 10. They believed that they could conquer the people and take the land. The lack of faith in the 10 spies and the Israelites caused the entire Children of Israel to wander in the wilderness for 40 years.
Now, lets explore two Biblical examples of faith in comparison to dead faith.

Faith with works examples
The Bible is filled with several examples that shows faith with works, but I’ll focus on two examples.
Mordecai’s Faith with works
Mordecai was a man with much faith; his faith definitely showed in his actions. Not only did he have faith but he remained faithful to God in the midst of turmoil. In Esther 3, Mordecai refused to kneel to Haman, so Haman convinced the King to put out a royal decree to annihilate all Jews. When Mordecai heard about it, he encouraged Esther to intervene, speak up, and do something about the deadly plot to kill the Jews.
He instructed Esther, to go the king’s presence and urge him not to kill the Jews and ask him for mercy. Esther did just that and his instruction to Queen Esther saved the Jews from destruction. At the time, Esther could’ve gotten killed if she went to the king’s inner court without being summoned. Mordecai’s pleading for Esther to take action was an example of faith with works, and it did work! Ultimately, Haman was hung and the Jews were saved.

Samson’s Faith with works
Samson was a man full of supernatural strength, but when his strength left him he prayed to God to strengthen him one last time to kill the Philistines for gauging out his eyes. In Judges 16, the Philistines planned to publicly mock Samson, so Samson asked to be led to the temple pillars to rest on them before his public humiliation began. When he made it to the two pillars, he said his last prayer asking for strength to knock over the pillars and kill his enemies.
God answered his prayer, and he pushed the two temple pillars and killed everyone there including himself. Samson’s faith was paired with works and a miracle was produced because of it. He prayed to God, then proceeded to take action by pushing the pillars. If he didn’t take action, then the pillars would not have fell. We can clearly see that faith paired with action is not dead.

2 Lessons Learned
Doubt creates limitations.
When Peter began to doubt, his lack of faith limited God’s ability to do the impossible. Peter could have easily walked to Jesus had not his faith wavered, but he chose to doubt instead, which limited God’s power then the miraculous moment immediately stopped. The scripture that says, “As a man thinketh, so is he,” is a proven fact according to this situation. If Peter thought he could’ve walked to Jesus then he would have, but Peter didn’t think he could, so therefore he did not.
Losing faith will delay or cause you to miss out entirely on God’s blessings.
The Israelites could’ve entered the Promised Land way before they actually arrived. Their lack of faith caused God to delay His promise by 40 years! The Israelites doubt and distrust in God angered Him so much that he made them wander one year for every day that the spies were out scoping the Promised Land, which was 40 days. Not only that but, any Israelite that was over 20 years old (besides Joshua and Caleb) could not and did not enter the Promised Land. The elders completely missed out on God’s blessings because they didn’t have the faith to receive it.
In the next section of this article, I’ll give you a few helpful scriptures about faith.
