Power of God & His Perfect Provision

Do you want to know and experience the power of God? Well, the Bible is filled with many stories about His power and perfect provision that will deepen your love and reverence for Him. Let’s explore the power of God.

power of god

God is mighty and His power knows no bounds. One way God’s power is shown, is through His provision. Provision is when God prepares a series of events to coincide with one another to work together seamlessly for a greater cause.

It’s His way of being prepared, and providing for a need beforehand. For example, when Joseph was sent to Egypt years before the famine. God’s provision placed him there so that he could save the lives of many.

In this post, you are going to learn about the power of God, His perfect provision, how to access the power of God, benefits of the power of God, and much more.

After reading this post, you’ll be motivated to live a clean life and spend time with God to access God’s power.

This post is all about the power of God.

Power of God

If anyone knows about experiencing God’s power and provision, it’s Joseph. Joseph’s life story is inspirational and really shows the power and faithfulness of God. He encourages us to walk in righteousness, even when evil things are done to us. When we read the story of Joseph, it doesn’t look as if we’re seeing God’s provision unfold. In fact, it looks more like a horror story for Joseph. But, God in His awesomeness laid the groundworks for Joseph to walk in his purpose and through His power changed Joseph’s life in the blink of an eye.

Long story short Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, lied on and wrongfully accused of sexual assault, then thrown into jail for years. Horrible right? It wasn’t until Pharaoh had a dream that Joseph came into the presence of Pharaoh to interpret it. After explaining that the dream was about a future famine and advising Pharaoh of what to do, Pharaoh then appointed Joseph to the second-in-command over the entire Egypt.

God’s power

The impossible was done by God, when Joseph came from a jail cell and into Pharaoh’s palace to interpret his dream. Not only that, but the power of God was shown immediately afterwards when Pharaoh unexpectedly put Joseph in charge of Egypt. What are the odds of that? He was just in jail for three years, then he was miraculously placed in charge of Egypt. If God’s power and provision wasn’t present, then Joseph would’ve never seen Pharaoh or been appointed over Egypt.

The unfortunate series of events in his life took place not to glorify Joseph for his faithfulness to God, but so that God could use him to withstand the seven-year famine and ultimately save the world. We can clearly see that God orchestrated situations to work in Joseph’s favor to carry out the will of God.  It demonstrates God’s perfect provision and how all things work together for the good, even when it doesn’t look so.

How do you access God’s power?

There are a few things you can do to access God’s power. Below are five tips that I know will help you access the power of God.

  1. Praise and Worship Him.

God LOVES praise and worship, just look at King David. One thing about David is that he exceled in praising God. His love and praise to God brought him great success in life. Praise and worship open doors that other things simply cannot. It shows God that we reverence and adore Him, as He’s the only thing that should be reverenced.

  2. Live a clean righteous life.

When you live clean (not slandering, fighting, using profane words, etc.) and in accordance to God’s word it’ll give you access to the Holy Spirit and His power. I can’t stress this enough that, “the prayers of the righteous man avails much!” Righteousness can go before you and do miraculous things, that nothing else can. Enoch, Noah, and Abraham lived righteous lives. As a result, Enoch didn’t experience physical death (Genesis 5:24), Noah survived the deadly flood (2 Peter 2:5), and Abraham was the only person whom God called “His friend,” what a high honor! (Isaiah 41:8).

  3. Fast.

Fasting enables us to tap into God’s supernatural power because it requires us to give up things and abstain. I personally have had miraculous things happen to me when I’ve done prolonged water fasts. Fasting will open up those doors that have been closed, break strongholds and addictions, and answer unanswered prayers. Fasting is super powerful and is the perfect way to access God’s power. Entire nations have been saved from fasting (the Jews in Esther and the city of Nineveh in Jonah) in the Bible.

  4. Repent from your sins.

When you do wrong take accountability for your wrongdoings and admit it to God, then ask Him to forgive you. Repentance cleanses and purifies us, so that we can boldly step into the presence of God unblemished. When you repent, don’t just repent and return to your sin, but repent and take the necessary steps to stop repeating the same sin. Work towards changing your life for the better in an effort to do right and please God.

  5. Spend time with Him.

Far too often we’ll neglect God, until we face trials and tribulations in life. Spend time with Him when things are good, bad and everything in between. Spending time with God involves having an active consistent prayer life, studying the Bible, praising Him, and much more. Treat God as if He’s important in your life and don’t put Him on the backburner until things go wrong; no one likes to be treated that way including God.

Benefits of the power of God

  • It’ll miraculously change your situation. By way of Gods power and provision, Joseph went from the dungeon to second-in-command of Egypt, in the blink of an eye. I’m sure when Joseph exited the dungeon to speak to Pharaoh, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. The power of God can go before us and do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ever ask or think.
  • Your love and reverence for God deepens. When you see the power of God at work, you’ll be in such awe of Him that your love for Him will grow deeper. Just to experience Him is wonderful and humbling at the same time. Because you realize that He doesn’t have to show you who He is, yet He still does.
  • It’ll increase your faith in Him. There will be no doubt in your mind whatsoever about His existence when you see the power of God working in real time. Seeing His power gives proof that He is real and does exist, which will in turn build and increase your faith. It makes it hard to doubt God after you’ve witnessed His power first-hand.

What Psalm is the Power of God?

Psalm 147 is an overlooked Psalm, but it gives true insight to the power of God. It reminds us of:

  • God’s power
  • How He blesses, strengthens, and heals
  • How He willingly provides and protects
  • How powerful His word is
  • His good deeds to people
  • His sovereignty over all creation
Psalm 147 reads,

“Praise the Lord How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him! The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion. He strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your people within you. He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?

He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws.

Praise the Lord.”

In the next section of this article, I’ll give you a few helpful scriptures on power and authority.

Power of God Verses

1 Cor. 2:5, “… your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Romans 13:1, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

Ephesians 6:10-18, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
