Are you looking for a beginners guide for a daily prayer routine? Look no further as this article was specifically created for you. Let’s explore more about prayer routine.

As I mentioned in one of my previous articles, praying everyday has changed my life for the better. And it can change yours too!
In a matter of a few weeks it has enriched my life, brought me closer to God, and I’ve received several answered prayers. Yayyyyyyy!
The thing that most helped me keep a daily prayer routine is when I put it in my mind that I’m going to prioritize prayer just as I prioritize eating, showering, or drinking water.
I figured that if we always do those things daily and never have an excuse not to do them, then why can’t we do the same for prayer?
Prayer is just as important as our basic life necessities; right?
In this post you’re going to learn about how to start a daily prayer routine, what to say during prayer, how to pray step by step, and much more.
After reading this post, you’ll know how to keep a daily prayer routine, what are some good daily prayers you can say, and more.
This post is all about prayer routine.

How to start a daily prayer routine
- Start by deciding on a time of day that’s convenient for you (morning, noon, or night). I personally choose to pray each night before I go to bed, because my mornings and afternoons can be quite busy. Just make sure to choose a time of day that’s not so busy.
- After you decide what time of day works best for you, then narrow it down to a specific time. Actually, take the time to think about your daily schedule and see where you have chunks of time that can be allocated to doing anything that you want, and use that time for prayer.
- Once you have a good idea of what time works best for you, then you should set a daily alarm on your phone for that exact time every single day.
- When the alarm goes off every day, then you know it’s time to pray. Go off into prayer and repeat this same routine every day. And, if you can’t pray at the exact time the alarm goes off for whatever reason, then put your alarm on snooze, when it goes off, so you don’t forget to pray that day.
- A great tip to stay consistent with daily prayer is to say no to any and all excuses that are going to prevent you from praying each day. When you do this, you’ll have no choice but to develop a successful daily prayer routine. Remember: people make time for the things they want to make time for, so make time for prayer just like you would for working out, taking your kids to the playground, eating, watching tv, and so forth.
And now that you know how to start a daily routine, in the next section of this article I’ll share with you what to say as you pray.
What do you say during praying?
When you pray you should always speak whatever is on your mind about your problems, concerns, worries, etc. Make sure to fully address everything in detail and explain to God what the problem is and how you need His help.
Quoting scriptures as you pray is also a wise thing to do because it’s God’s word being spoken and His word is powerful and has the ability to bring changes. When you pray it’s also the perfect time to express thankfulness and gratitude towards God as well.
In doing so you’ll be in alignment with three Biblical scriptures, which are:
- “Cast all your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)
- “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrew 4:12)
- “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4)

How to pray step by step?
1) Start by addressing who the prayer is to, such as God or Lord.
2) Then, begin giving thanks to God by telling Him exactly what you’re thankful for. For example: “Thank you Lord for blessing me to wake up safely today,” or “Lord you are so good and worthy of all praise; thank you for being so gracious and kind to me.” Feel free to spend a lot of time giving thanks to God because He most certainly loves it and is deserving of it.
3) Now that you’ve expressed your gratitude, you can now move onto to telling God the reason for your prayer. Go into detail and leave no stone unturned when you’re praying to God. You don’t have to sugarcoat anything, just talk to him as if you were expressing yourself to a friend or close loved one.
4) And as you pray, say Bible verses that support your prayer. When you do this, you are accomplishing two things. One, you’re edifying yourself by speaking the word of God over your life/situation. And two, you’re speaking God’s word back to Him to show Him how you or your situation is in alignment with His word.
5) Next, always end your prayer by acknowledging Jesus, because He died on the cross for our sins and He is the only way to get to God as a result. So, you can say something like: “In Jesus name I pray, Amen,” “In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen,” or “In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.”

What are some good daily prayers?
A good daily prayer can consist of many things such as, having your necessities met. A few necessities that you can pray about are your safety, protection, shelter, food, work, family, opportunities, etc. Here’s a good daily prayer:
God,
“I just want to tell you that I love you and that all praise, glory, and honor belong to you. Lord, you are so wonderful and I thank you for your love, mercy, kindness, and patience you’ve shown me.
Lord, I thank you for providing a roof over my head, good food, and clean water to drink daily. Heavenly Father I ask that you keep me safe and well-protected every day. Release your angels over me to watch over me and my loved ones.
Just as your word says in Psalm 91, “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
Bless this day and let it be fruitful and open doors for me that I can’t open. Pour out your divine favor over me and bless me in all that I do.”
In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.
Another prayer you can say is this:
Lord,
“Praise be to your Holy name, hallelujah! Lord, I’m thankful for all my blessings and for having you in my life. I thank you for the faith that you’ve allowed me to have to believe in you God.
God, I ask for strength to make it through my day and that you order my steps each and every day. Strengthen me in the areas I’m weak in, and I ask that I become a better person every day.
Show me how to walk in and keep your ways just as your word says in Psalm 25:4, “Show me your ways Lord, teach me your paths.” Bless me to be righteous in your eyes and I pray that you remove any thing in me that you dislike. I ask that my name be written in the Book of Life and never removed from it.
Lord, please forgive me of all my sins, both known and unknown, and have mercy on my soul. I ask that you answer my prayers.”
In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Related Questions:
What is the first thing you say when you start praying?
You can start your prayer off by first addressing that the prayer is to God. This can be done by saying: Dear God, God, Heavenly Father, Father God, Father, Lord, or Jesus. Addressing Him by any one of those names or titles is sufficient.
How should a beginner pray?
Before a beginner prays, he/she should first check that their trust in God is strong. Because no matter how a person prays, if he/she does not have faith in God then they’re doing a great injustice to their prayer. Having faith is the very first step to getting your prayers answered. Step by step how to pray instructions are provided above in the article.
